54: One Year Later

Wow. It’s been one year. ONE YEAR! Holy crap. I know I keep saying this but wow. The album that I have ready to release in June has been waiting for over 2 years to be released and that’s ridiculous. Finally though this thing I call my album is taking shape into something wonderful. WONDERFUL.

The Art Show at which I’ll be selling my album has been moved up to June 2 which will be the release of my physical album which today got a new cover AND an extra bonus track.

I decided that the cover for the physical and digital release are going to be the same except that the physical release has the words “Special Edition” by the “ZW” logo.

Another thing that happened today. I decided that a song that I wrote AFTER I created the final track listing was just too good to miss out of being on my album so I’m going to record that and it’ll make it’s debut on my debut. It’s called “Congratulate You” and I’m excited for it, obviously. That song will be put on the end of the album making it the 12th track overall on the special edition and 10th track overall on the digital standard release.

One more piece of fun. I’m going to be selling the physical album for $10 and $2 of that will go to the Save the Music Foundation. You can visit their website and learn about all the good they do here.

I hope to see you June 2nd and I hope you bring $10 to support both me and a wonderful organization. Remember the special physical edition is limited to 100 copies ONLY so get there quick!!!! 🙂

52: It’s Been Far Too Long

I haven’t blogged in a while. So I feel like I have a lot to say about a lot of stuff.

First off. The Celebrity Apprentice. I know I’m a couple days late on my opinions but seriously. If Lisa Lampanelli wins this show I will have heart failure and it’ll be a better experience than watching her take out her jealousy on Dayana Mendoza.

If Lisa would take a few steps back and realize that she and Aubrey O’Day (another story) are the ONLY ones that think that Dayana is a waste of space and always in people’s way, they’d realize they are completely, utterly wrong. The clip below is mild compared to what this evil, jealous woman has put Dayana through.

Also, why? WHY DOES LISA THINK SHE’S SO F’ING GREAT WHEN SHE’S ONLY WON THREE OUT OF TEN CHALLENGES!!!??? TELL ME! PLEASE IF SOMEONE HAS A LOGICAL EXPLANATION I NEED IT!

And Aubrey. You’ve proved to be one of the most unlikable women in America. Everything. Everything. Everything MUST be about you. That’s why you broke up an entire band. That’s why one of the most influential men in music FIRED you from his band. That’s why NO ONE (except Lisa) wants to work with you on Celebrity Apprentice. It was blood boiling at first that everything was “Me me me me me me me, I’m so great” but when Teresa won her task and Donald asked her what her charity was and why it was so important…. YOU ANSWERED. SICKENING. WHY CAN YOU NOT LET ANYONE HAVE THEIR MOMENT?

I know the clip is long. But to get an idea of the stupid, just watch the first minute or two. You’ll get sucked in.

Basically, someone, Arsenio Hall, calls her out on her absolute b.s. she cries, proceeds to ask Teresa if she, Aubrey, has “taught her everything she knows” and then Donald Trump says that’s a negative statement. She quits. Go home. Stay home. Go break up another band. Don’t come back. Oh wait, she does. Great.

Moving on from the mean and stupid. Let’s talk about spring music. I’ve already told you about Sarah Jaffe’s new album which releases next week!!!! I’ve pre-listened to the album on NPR and it’s great. Such a great direction she’s moved in.

Next, is an album I’ve been waiting for since 8th grade. And finally. It’s here on May 1.

Santigold: Master of My Make-Believe is gonna be such a great album. Better be the best album I’ve heard in awhile since I’ve waited four long years. I’ve heard three tracks from the album: “GO!”, “Big Mouth”, and “Disparate Youth”.

“Big Mouth” not my favorite but the other two songs are soo great.

Next:
I’m gonna crap myself from excitement. NO JOKE. This woman is a goddess. Seriously. I absolutely cannot wait for this album. Her previous five album just topped themselves as they came out, (except for her second album). Soviet Kitsch was great, Begin to Hope was amazing, Far was superb and What We Saw From the Cheap Seats is gonna follow right along with that trend. I can tell. It’s a long wait, May 23, but I think I can make it. I hope I can make it. Regina Spektor ❤

So concludes my Celebrity Apprentice rant and love of music rant. I’ll be back sooner than later to give you album updates. Also, it’s my one year anniversary for this blog in about a week. So. Be there, or be square.

44: CRAZY IMPORTANCE

I sit here on my (now over) snow day to bring you some good news on my debut album! I know it’s been a long wait. It seems like I’ve been telling you there’s going to be an album out for years now. But the truth is, it’s only been about 1. So what it is this news you may be asking. Well here it is.

The album, titled “Zackery Wilson” will see 2 forms of release. One form is a physical, “special edition” version of the album which (if money permits) will be limited to 100 copies. This version will contain a small book with lyrics to all 11 of the songs featured on the album. The book will also contain original photography by yours truly. Here is the cover.

The second form is a standard digital release which will contain 9 songs. This version of the album will be released on my Bandcamp page on June 12. I will add a digital booklet with the lyrics. Here is the digital cover:

The track listing for each of the versions is the following:

STANDARD:

  1. Take It Lightly
  2. Be Free
  3. In the Sky
  4. Maybe I’m Broken
  5. Those Times
  6. What Am I
  7. Despite Them
  8. Back of the Room
  9. Shadow

SPECIAL:

  1. Take It Lightly
  2. Be Free
  3. Sleep
  4. In the Sky
  5. Maybe I’m Broken
  6. Those Times
  7. What Am I
  8. Despite Them
  9. Back of the Room
  10. Too Long
  11. Shadow

So there you have it folks. I’m still playing around with the inside art. Right now I’m not too sure about it but you know me and how wishy washy I am. I’ll have the final version done by tomorrow and share that with ya’ll.

For now, I’m going to go listen to my new Memoryhouse CD and talk to you guys about all my thoughts on fabulous topics in reality tv. Have a nice night.

43: American Idol

I’ve recently been watching American Idol… I don’t know how I got sucked into this thing but you know. Things happen. My current bet on who I think is going to win the whole thing (I know it’s a little early) is Phillip Phillips. I’m not really sure what to think of the other contestants. I really like Heejun but I don’t think he’s going to go far. I think Eben is another competitor but I have a feeling he won’t make it past the final 7. He’s too young.

I sit there and watch the show and think… I actually want to do this? What is wrong with me? I don’t feel like I’m personally good enough to make it so far as the final 24. It’s crazy though because I bet every single person in the final 24 thought the same exact thing. Season 12 here I (hopefully) come!

On to my music. I’m almost done with Be Free. This one is a little trickier than “Take it Lightly”. I’m not sure on the vocal volume and all that jazz but I just need to get over it. Also, I’m going to add two more tracks to the upcoming “Take It Lightly” single (released March 12), making it more of an EP. Here’s the track listing:

If you didn’t notice… I’m moving the release of this EP up to March 12, which is only a couple of days away. March seems like more of a suitable release. It’ll be even more of a tease because you’ll have to wait 3 months until the album.

I’ve been working hard lately and have quite a few songs that need completing… like… a lot. upwards of 5. I need to get busy.

Right now you can download for FREE the first single off the album, “Shadow” and you can do that here.

Back for another round of the blogging, the fortieth to be exact!!! This week I come to you with not much news, but just some jibber jabber about random things.

Recording is going… not at all. I haven’t really recorded anything with my microphone yet but I will starting hopefully next week.

Also, up in the menu there is a new tab called “gallery” which is most of the pictures I’ve taken. I might even use one of them as the album cover since the whole underwater concept hasn’t exactly been working out. Also, the blog banner is different and the “ZW” is the logo that is going to be used on the front of the cover.

I’ve slightly altered the covers for “Shadow” and “Take It Lightly” but they aren’t too different, just a little more contrast-y than the originals.

So lets talk Lana Del Rey. I discoverd her music a few weeks ago before she performed on Saturday Night Live, which in her case was a big mistake. She….. well she wasn’t great but she wasn’t as terrible as many say she was. You can watch her performance of one her really fantastic songs (that she didn’t do much justice) below:

She doesn’t sound bad in any other live performances that I’ve heard her in so I think she was just nervous.

This performance in turn made me super duper nervous for the first time I perform in front of people. I was thinking of maybe trying to set up a show sometime at the very end of May/ very beginning June right before the release of the album which comes out in June 4 at my friends art show which (tentatively) runs June 4 and 5. The digital release of the album will be on June 12, a week later.

Here is the new cover of Take It Lightly:

39

Well hellllo there! I’ve been working on the album a little bit lately. I’ve been mainly re-writing a lot of the songs I have prepared, making them the best I possibly can make them!!! I’ve decided that I’m going to include the song “Shadow” on the album. I think it’s a really strong track, one of my favorites.

I gave “Shadow” a new cover so it goes more along the lines of the overall theme of the upcoming album… well, at least the single covers.

You’ve probably heard the song before but here, you can listen to it again and if you haven’t, you can download it!!! 🙂

So far I know of just four songs that I for sure want to be on the album:

  1. Back of the Room
  2. Be Free
  3. Take it Lightly
  4. Shadow

So I’ve got 4 for sure songs…. now I just need 7 more.

Post 37: Take It Lightly

Like i had stated previously, I was thinking about releasing “Take it Lightly” as the first single from my first studio album. And that’s what I’m going to do. I made the cover(s) today and they are below. I can’t decide if I like the one with the writing on it or if I just like it simple with the small title on the top. I’m leaning more towards the one with the big writing. Let me know what you think by commenting:

The single is going to be released onto my Bandcamp page on April 30th which is a Monday! SO MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Also, you may have noticed that the menu up top is a little different. The “Music” tab takes you directly to my bandcamp page and the facebook tab takes you right to my facebook page! I’ve added an about page and soon I’m gonna add a “Photos” page!

Today, I will hopefully have my album cover shoot and when those are all done and edited, they’ll be up for the world to see! I’m so excited! Underwater, here I come!
